New Routines, Rituals & Inspiration

Andrea's Scoop for 2024

1. What do you want to do more of?

I would like to get involved with an organisation or do some volunteering.
It would be wonderful if I could give back a little. I would also like and hopefully enjoy meeting new people with similar interests and have some more variety in my life.

2. What brings you joy?

Trying harder to enjoy the moment! I have so much to be thankful for. There is so much sadness going on in the world and most of us are very fortunate.  I want to enjoy and be grateful for what I have instead of sometimes focussing on the stuff I should be doing or how things could be better.

3. What non-negotiable, rituals do you do everyday?

Meditation and some kind of exercise plus a cold shower! Now that I am in Texas I can’t do my cold water swimming every day so I’ve resorted to the 30 second cold shower.

4. What do you want to see more of in the skincare industry?

To be honest with you, I try not to worry too much about the ‘industry’. It’s such a crowded place but I do love seeing interesting plant ingredients and well-designed packaging that’s not plastic!

5. What do you want to see Desavery do more of?

I want to spend time creating some new products and limited editions so we can have more ‘fun’ and experiment a little!

Grace's Scoop for 2024

1. What do you want to do more of?

I think when you look to the New Year it’s filled with marketing talk of "new year, new you”. I don’t buy into that messaging. It can be so overwhelming and instead I want to peel that back this year. I want to carve more time out for things I enjoy; reading, pilates, travelling, live music, swimming, pottery and just simply being. We can get so caught up in the day to day we forget to look at the bigger picture sometimes, so I think it’s important to take stock of that. Life is too short not to do things you enjoy.

2. What brings you joy?

Joy really is the ingredient to life. There’s so much that brings me joy the list is endless, but my friends and family bring me the most joy without a doubt. Although saying that, I do also love my me time. I enjoy getting up every day, having a few minutes to ask myself what I am grateful for and what I want to let go of and then I start my day. It just makes me feel good. I don’t look at my phone in the morning and it’s a positive habit to get into. I love walking in the park to the coffee shop, listening to friends voice notes or a podcast and appreciating the space I’m in. I absolutely love going for dinner with my friends, having a great conversation over a good plate of food and wine and just being in each others company. For me the simple things really bring me the most joy.

3. What non-negotiable, rituals do you do everyday?

Every morning apart from the points I mentioned briefly above, I make a little tincture to detox my body (apple cider vinegar, olive oil, lemon and cayenne pepper in warm water). I slowly drink this whilst I do my facial massage which is a combination of Facial Cupping and Gua Sha. I know lots of people like to wind down in the evening, but I prefer starting my day off slowly. It allows me the time and space I need to think about what I have planned for the day, it makes me feel good and it just gears me up for the day ahead. I always have to see sunlight and go for a walk even if it’s a quick one. A lot of evenings, I do what I call “kitchen dancing”. I whack on some great music to suit my mood and just dance the day off. It's something I’ve done for years and might seem silly but it just makes me feel good and I’m all here for making every day that bit better and brighter!

4. What do you want to see more of in the skincare industry?

I want to see less anti ageing messaging and more pro ageing. It’s a blessing to wake up every day and get older, it’s not a negative. I find social media stifling with its ads of filler, botox, 30 day shreds and the like. It’s extremely sad. It’s not a message I can relate to but unfortunately so many people think they’re not worthy enough as they are and that’s really disheartening to see. I would absolutely love to see the industry support and uplift men and women more. Two people I love following for body positivity messaging are Jules Von Hep and Danae Mercer they keep it real all the time and we need more people like them.

5. What do you want to see Desavery do more of?

I’d love to see Desavery do more collaborative partnerships/events, workshops and release a few new products. Working at the company and with Andrea, is truly a pleasure. It’s a small team but one I am so proud to work for and with. I would absolutely love for us to grow and collaborate more and perhaps even involve men in our collaborations too which could be fun! (Husbands, boyfriends, dads, love our products too!) On a side note, if you there’s a brand or person you’d like us to work with please do email us as we love hearing from you!
